Starting in August for players that wish to participate we are going to be offering a player ranking system using the ELO format commonly used to rank international chess players. The system will initially cover Warmachine and Hordes and will then branch our into other games as well.

New Players will start with 1000 points as they play games against other players in the system there points will go up and down based on their match. Point change is determined by the point totals of each player a modified by a weighted constant based on the size of the game or the level of the tournament(for those familiar with ELO ranking this will be the K value).When ranked players choose to play a ranked match all they have to do is play the match and then report it back to the website in the particular thread where the rankings are held. Rank changes will then be calculated and the new ranking will be posted once per week. Tournaments may also be considered ranked matches if the Tournament Organizer wished them to be in this case all the tournament organizer needs to do is submit the results for each round to one of the ranking admins and we will calculate the ranking changes for the entire tournament. If a tournament organizer chooses not to run the tournament as a ranked event individual players may still choose to treat their games as ranked and may report there matches as normal.

There are really two reasons one it will allow tournament organizers to effectively seed tournaments based on rank if they so choose to do. Second and the primary reason bragging rights for all of Central Indiana also to create a tangible rating of the players in an area for those that play competitively and what to know where they stand.

No Catch, its completely voluntary for those that wish to participate. Its just for fun and bragging rights….but may be used in some future events that Circle City Gamers will be running.

The Warmachine/Hordes ranking will start up on August 1st those interested just need to post in the Warmachine/Hordes ranking thread and they will be added to the sheet. We would prefer that players sign up with there real names however for those that are uncomfortable with that we will use your forum name. In addition to the sign up thread we will also be adding a challenge thread we players can challenge each other to matches the rules for those challeges will be posted there. There will also be a results thread where match results will be posted for inclusion in the rankings.
